The Origin
What is a Majlis?
The Majlis — from the Arabic مجلس, meaning 'a place of sitting' — is one of the oldest and most sacred traditions of the Arab and Moroccan world. It is not merely a room. It is a ritual of radical hospitality: a space held open for all who enter, where rank dissolves, where conversation flows freely, and where the act of being present is itself an offering.
For centuries, the Majlis has been the heartbeat of community life across North Africa and the Middle East. Rulers and poets, merchants and mystics — all gathered in the same circle. The Majlis was where decisions were made, stories were told, and bonds were forged that outlasted empires.

Maison Majalis began as a personal longing — for spaces that felt both ancient and alive, for gatherings that nourished rather than depleted, for a way of living that drew from the deep wells of Moroccan and Middle Eastern heritage without losing itself in nostalgia. I grew up between worlds: between the medinas and the modern city, between the intimate warmth of the Majlis and the restless pace of contemporary life. Maison Majalis is my attempt to hold both — to build something that is rooted, refined, and radically human. You are welcome here.
